Some of the things you can come up with in your sleep

Oh man just woke up from the craziest dream. I've had dreams where I've been a mohawked and pierced member of Rancid, I've been in art school where my teachers are Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus, but I've never had a dream that had anything to do with hip-hop. Until last night, when I dreamt I was Jay-Z's backup MC for a four-night stand in front of 55,000 people each night. And it was a black tie affair. The entire audience were dressed in tuxes and ballroom gowns. All 55,000 of them. The theme of the show was lightening, wind, fire and water. Throughout the performance actual lightening was cracking above the audiences heads. And gusts of wind during pivotal moments had all the ladies once-perfect hair in complete messes. The show concluded with Jay waving around two giant torches, blasting fire out across the giant stage, and me shooting water from two giant firehoses at the inferno. The crowd ended up being soaking wet, in their tuxes and dresses, but they didn't care. They gave a standing ovation and then left in limousines. All of them.

Definitely bizarre.

Ah it's great to be back in Santa Cruz

Sitting in a taquaria listening to two chubby hippies rant about how the meat industry has 'tricked' us into believing fat is bad for you. Oh wait now they're onto how the big corporations have tricked us into hating carbs. The trickery!!

Update!: Now they've moved straight into how they're not 'anti-men' just anti basically everything about men. It just keeps getting better!

Adventures in Bollywood (in San Francisco)
Note

On Saturday I was working on this Bollywood film in San Francisco. It was super fun! The actor reminded me like an Indian version of that kid from Juno, Michael Cera. Word got out that we were filming and all of the sudden the were like 50 groupies on the street corners. Blowin' minds!

A Little Of My Day At BFD 2009
Note

Here are a few of the bands I caught at BFD 2009 this weekend. On video are Metric, Glasvegas, DJAM, 311 and that guy dancing his brains out. By the time 311 came on I was going to die from exhaustion. Already 12 hours in and like 15 bands down. Also caught the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rebelution, Anberlin, The Limousines, Steve Aoki, Zion I and who knows who else. My favorite band of the day hands down goes to Metric. They sounded awesome and Emily Haines put on a performance that made it impossible for me to turn my head away. So much fun.

I've driven by this beach in between Carmel and Cambria so many times in my life, but in a rush to get to whatever camp site or surf spot I've never taken the time to stop and check it out. Today my brother Dallas And I decided to take that time. It was just too perfect looking. The great little waves with wind blowing slightly offshore into them was the deal breaker, I believe. Plus, we stopped on the way back home. More like skidded into the shoulder on the way back home. But the schedule was open. We realized there was no way onto the sand without hopping a fence and committing crimes of some sort. Which isn't necessarily a problem if we were going to surf again. Maybe next time...
